The Tibetan Association of Santa Fe, Inc. (TAOSF) was reorganized on September 2nd, 1997. 

Article III of Incorporation states the purpose of organizing TAOSF:

  • To preserve, promote and disseminate the unique Tibetan cultural heritage for the mankind’s happiness and world peace; 

  • To promote and uphold moral values, environment and animal protection based on centuries old Tibetan practices and principles; 

  • To develop the Tibetan community into a sustainable pro-active organization to strengthen its participation with, contribution to and integration into the main stream society; 

  • To promote and support the just cause of Tibet; 

  • To work with other nonprofit organizations, including the Tibetan US Resettlement Project, Inc, to provide such programs;

  • To solicit and accept contributions and donations of any kind for the support of such propose; and

  • To do all and everything necessary, suitable, or proper for the accomplishment of any of the proposes, the attainment of any of the objectives, or the exercise of any of the powers herein set forth, either alone or in conjunction with other corporations, firms, or individuals, and to do every other act or acts, thing or things, incidental or appurtenant to or growing out or connected with the above-mentioned objectives, purposes, or powers.
     

We support and encourage the four principal commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. These commitments are:

1. Promotion of Universal and Basic Compassionate Values: Encouraging people to cultivate compassion, forgiveness, and contentment, which are essential for happiness and peace.

2. Harmony Among Religious Traditions: Emphasizing the importance of love, compassion, and tolerance in all religious traditions, promoting understanding and respect for diverse beliefs.

3. Preservation of Tibetan Culture and Environment: Protecting the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Tibet, including the Tibetan language and the ecological balance of the Tibetan plateau.

4. Revival of Ancient Wisdom: Promoting the wisdom and knowledge of ancient India, particularly the practices of non-violence (Ahimsa) and compassion (Karuna), along with the development of modern education among youth.

To Preserve and Promote Tibetan Culture, Traditional, Language, Religion and Art is dedicated to safeguarding and celebrating the rich heritage of Tibetan culture, language, and art. With a focus on preserving traditions and promoting cultural events, we strive to create a platform for the global community to engage with the essence of Tibetan heritage.
